Team Woofgang & Co. is committed to empowering adults with disabilities through vocational skills training and life-long learning opportunities. Team Members participate in two curricula that incorporate production, packaging, marketing, and selling high quality dog treats and pet toys. Our goal is for each team member to achieve a powerful sense of independence, success, and productivity, while building a community of coworkers and friends. TWC offers programs with a non-discriminatory eye that looks to the individual and their desire to learn regardless of their diagnosis, socio-economic background, or ethnic culture at no charge to the team member or their families.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUNG ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES WHEN THEY COMPLETE THEIR PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION?
The support built into our public education system is abruptly removed
Further education opportunities are often non-existent or expensive
Social interaction with their peers decreases rapidly often leading to a sense of isolation
Most prospects of gaining employment are restricted by limited real-world skills training
For those with jobs, it is primarily on a part time or volunteer basis
The lack of a routine often leads to an inevitable slide on learning
