United Cerebral Palsy of Eastern CT

United Cerebral Palsy of Eastern Connecticut is a longstanding non-profit agency founded in 1949 by a group of parents who were committed to developing services and programs for their children with cerebral palsy. Today they offer multiple support opportunities for adults and children.

THE MISSION:

To advance the independence and full citizenship of individuals across a spectrum of disabilities, including cerebral palsy.

UCP of Eastern CT offers a range of services and programs aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities, including day services, employment, community living and assistive technology. Their mission to promote independence, inclusion, and equality for people with disabilities is crucial because it enables individuals to lead fulfilling lives and participate actively in their communities.

They fulfill their mission by providing personalized support, fostering skill development, advocating for accessibility, and promoting social integration, ultimately empowering individuals to achieve their goals and contribute meaningfully to society.

CORE PROGRAMS:

DAY SERVICES

UCP of Eastern CT offers supervised adult day services, providing opportunities for individuals to engage in productive activities outside the home. These services include social activities, life skills training, transportation, meal preparation, and health services.

COMMUNITY LIVING

Providing tailored, flexible In Home Support services with the support the Individuals need to thrive in their home. We give them the tools to live independently, in a home of their choosing.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

UCP of Eastern CT offers Employment services, matching individuals with jobs that align with their interests, skills, and abilities. We work with Individuals to attain real-wage positions, fostering coworker relationships, transitioning from school to Day Services, and providing ongoing support in both home and community settings.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

UCP of Eastern CT utilizes assistive technology to enhance independence and accessibility for individuals with disabilities, providing tools such as communication devices, mobility aids, and adaptive equipment. By integrating assistive technology into their services, UCP of Eastern CT aims to empower individuals to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential in various aspects of life.

COMMUNITY INCLUSION & ADVOCACY

UCP of Eastern CT’s Community Inclusion & Advocacy Program officers information, guidance and referral services to help individuals with disabilities remove barriers to independence. If a barrier cannot be removed, or a need cannot be met, staff at UCPECT will refer individuals to a community partner to assist them.
