The mission is to ensure every young person has access to a safe home environment and the tools, guidance, and resources they need to develop essential skills and navigate life's pressures.
THE SERVICES:
AT HUCKLEBERRY HOUSE, WE AIM TO BOTH PREVENT AND END HOMELESSNESS FOR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS (12-24).
THE YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAM
The Teen Crisis Shelter provides a safe, temporary refuge for teens ages 12-17 who are facing difficult, disruptive, or dangerous situations at home. Upon arrival, teens are immediately supported with comprehensive services, including pairing them with a counselor from the Counseling Center and connecting them to the Youth Outreach Program (YOP) for access to additional resources. When deemed safe, the primary goal is family reunification, often facilitated through family therapy to help ease tensions and rebuild relationships within the family unit.
HOUSING PROGRAM
For young people between 18-24 who are at risk of or struggling with homelessness, the Housing Program provides safe shelter and access to a dedicated team of counselors and support staff help develop the skills and confidence to live successfully on their own. They provide them with housing for up to 18 months and help them navigate the next steps after exiting the Transitional Living Program. The primary goal of the Housing Programs is ending homelessness for those are are at risk or struggling with it.
THE COUNSELING CENTER
The Counseling Center is comprised of a team of therapists who specialize working with teens, young adults, and families to help with a wide array of mental health issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, family conflict, and school-related challenges. They work with the young people and families in the programs to provide wrap around services building confidence for brighter futures.
THE YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAM
(YOP) is a team that engage with youth to prevent homelessness and provide support and resources to increase stability. They are the "boot on the ground" team at Huckleberry House, meeting youth wherever they are - community centers, playgrounds, schools, and wherever else they hang out most. The goal is to connect with them, providing support that's available in the community to help with housing, education, employment, and other needs.
