My People Community Services
My People Community Services is a nonprofit that supports the Greater Hartford Area through programs and services aimed at strengthening and engaging communities.
OUR MISSION: TO DEVELOP A COMMUNITY THAT SERVES, SUPPORTS, COLLABORATES AND SUCCEEDS TOGETHER.
My People Community Services endeavors to collaborate and connect individuals to community initiatives, activities and events from the perspective of service and support. We believe when individuals are involved, engaged and feel a part of the community, they have more pride,
increased care and respect for the community and others.
There is a difference between “the community” and “My Community”; just as there is a difference between “the people” and “My People”. The word “My” denotes ownership or in the case of My People, being a part of something. When an individual takes ownership in their community and sees themselves as a part of something bigger, it allows for the individual and the community to thrive. Having a community that thrives is what My People Community Services seeks to accomplish.
SOME OF OUR SERVICES:
Positive Youth Development: PYD is a research-based approach that guides communities in the way they organize support and opportunities so that young people can develop to their full potential. PYD is a commitment to the following principles: positive outcome achievement, use of strength-based approaches, promotion of youth engagement and voice, utilization of inclusive strategies, and the fostering of collaborative, long-term community engagement.
The Manhood Tree: The Manhood Tree provides men with environments for self expression, discussion, healing and the opportunity to engage with other men for support and empowerment.
Dream Support Network: The Dream Support Network seeks to inspire, encourage and support dream chasers. We have learned that the best way to make your dreams come true, other than getting out there ... is to get help!
$.50 per every bowl of ramen sold during the month of September will be donated directly towards programs and services aimed at developing a community geared towards serving, supporting, collaborating, and succeeding with one another. To learn more, please visit, www.mypeoplecommunity.org.
